LegalMatters (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.
This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected and processed through the
LegalMatters website and the LegalMatters mobile application (the “App”).
1. Who we are
LegalMatters is a podcast and media platform focusing on legal, political and social issues.
The LegalMatters website and mobile application are operated by Christophoros Christophi, who acts as the data controller for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”).

2. Personal data we collect
We collect only limited personal data, as follows:
(a) App usage data (analytics)
When you use the App, we collect certain usage information through
Google Firebase Analytics, including:
- App interactions (for example episode play or navigation)
- Device type and operating system
- App version and performance data
This data is used in aggregated or pseudonymised form and is not intended to directly identify individual users.
(b) Push notification data
If you choose to enable push notifications, the App may process a device notification token generated by your device in order to deliver notifications about new episodes or updates.
(c) Subscription data (optional)
If you choose to subscribe to updates, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
Providing this information is entirely optional. The App can be used without providing personal data.
(d) Third-party platforms
The App embeds or links to third-party platforms such as
YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify.
When you access content hosted on these platforms, they may collect data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not control how these third parties process personal data.
3. Purposes of processing
We process personal data only to:
- Operate and improve the App and podcast
- Analyse app usage and performance
- Send push notifications where you have opted in
- Communicate with subscribers who have provided their email address
4. Legal basis for processing
Processing of personal data is based on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests – for analytics, app functionality and improving the service
- Consent – where you choose to enable push notifications or subscribe using your email address
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
5. Data retention
- Analytics data is retained only for the period necessary to analyse application performance and may be stored in aggregated or pseudonymised form.
- Subscription data (name and email) is retained only while the subscription remains active or until deletion is requested.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.
Personal data may be processed by trusted service providers who assist us in operating the App, including:
- Google Firebase (analytics and push notification infrastructure)
- Apple and Google (app distribution platforms)
Such providers process data only to the extent necessary to provide their services and are subject to appropriate contractual safeguards.
7. International data transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area.
Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards are applied in accordance with the GDPR, including the use of European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses or other legally recognised transfer mechanisms.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request correction or deletion of your personal data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with the Cyprus Commissioner for Personal Data Protection

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data from unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
10. Third-party content
The LegalMatters App may display or link to content hosted by third-party platforms (such as YouTube, Apple Podcasts or Spotify).
Interaction with such content may result in those platforms collecting data directly from users.
We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of those platforms before using their services.
11. Children
The LegalMatters App is not directed to children under the age of 16.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
If you believe that a child has provided personal data through the App, please contact us so that the information can be removed.
12. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.
The latest version will always be available on the LegalMatters website.
13. Platform nature of the service
The LegalMatters App provides access to podcast content and media materials, including content hosted on third-party platforms such as YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Such content is made available for informational and journalistic purposes.
Where the App displays or links to third-party content, the relevant platform may process personal data independently in accordance with its own privacy policies and terms of service. LegalMatters does not control the processing of personal data carried out by those third parties.
Users who interact with embedded media or external platforms do so subject to the privacy policies and terms of those services.
